Dane County Park Permits
Purchase a permit by clicking on the links below or download an application for mailing.
Daily permits are downloaded and printed after you have finished the payment process.
2020 annual permits may be purchased starting November 1, 2019. The receipt may be printed and used as the permit until a physical annual permit is mailed after December 1 to your address.

All annual permits are valid from the time of purchase through December 31, 2020 with the exception of Lake Access, which is valid from January 1 until March 31 of the following year.

Replacement permits are available at a lower fee for lost annual permits. Lost State Trail permits must be replaced at full value.

Aeromodeling permits allow citizens to fly model airplanes in special areas on park property. It is currently available at Badger Prairie County Park. More information on the park, including pictures and directions can be found at the Badger Prairie Park webpage.
Disc Golf is currently available at Token Creek County Park, the Vallarta-Ast Disc Golf Course, and at Lake Farm County Park, the Capital Springs Disc Golf Course. Disc Golf course maps can be found here.
Please note that the general opening and closing dates of the Disc Golf courses is May 1st through October 31st, weather permitting.

Permit is valid at all Dane County Parks, City of Madison Parks, City of Sun Prairie Parks and City of Middleton Parks. Visit the Dane County Parks Dogs in Parks webpage for more information including maps and brochures. Annual Dog Park cleanup will be the 1st Saturday in April.
Lake Access permits are required for use of 13 access sites at Madison area lakes (Mendota, Monona, Waubesa and Kegonsa).

The Tenney Lock provides passage between Lake Monona and Lake Mendota by raising or lowering boat traffic to accommodate the approximately 5 1/2 feet difference between the normal levels of the two lakes.

Trail Permits
There are three different Dane County Trail Permits: Mountain Bike, Horse and Cross-Country Skiing. For the location of these trails and other additional information, please see the links below. The State Bike Trail Pass is also available for purchase.
Regarding the State Trail Pass: A state trail pass is required for all people age 16 or older biking, in-line skating, horseback riding, cross-country skiing, or off-highway motorcycling on certain trails. A state trail pass is not required for walking or hiking. For more information, please visit the WI DNR State Trail Pass website.
